This is a woman that my father called a “hootchie momma” for how she dressed at the children’s choice awards. Her daughter wore a $70 dress from the mall to the same awards, rather than some outrageously priced fashion statement. Sometimes in life, being a healthy woman just means knowing that your father is an asshole. Sometimes it’s being able to put aside all the crap and guilt and shame you have on yourself for not respecting your elder or whatever other crappy rules of behavior society has burdened you with. Sometimes you just have to recognize that you were born to someone that doesn’t respect you for what you are, call a spade a spade, eject the asshole from your life, put your head up, and be a healthy woman. Sometimes being a healthy woman means figuring out who taught us what to feel about ourselves, and telling them to shut the fuck up.
